WHY YOU NEED A RE-VISION CATALYST EDIT
Like the Last Developmental Edit You’ll Ever Need, the Re-Vision Catalyst is comprehensive. You’ll receive a full developmental edit with margin notes and a six- to eight-page editorial letter identifying critical areas and setting you up for success with actionable next steps.
The report includes resources and prompts custom-designed to you, your book and your vision.
THE RE-VISION CATALYST EDIT IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF:
- You have received a developmental edit from someone else, but now you’re stuck.
- You have received a developmental edit from me, but you’re ready to jump in and revise with new vigor and vision. If this is you and we have worked together before (I’ve seen your full manuscript), you automatically get $300 off the service.
FOR WRITERS OF NONFICTION
The Re-Vision Catalyst package proves especially helpful for writers of nonfiction who want to:
- Dial in their hook.
- Identify that one clear, concise and captivating message for the reader.
- Know they have captured a unique and authentic narrative voice that readers can trust.
- Be assured they have made a compelling and logical argument.
- Offered the lightning insight that unlocks the reader journey.
- Offered the golden nugget of discovery of how to get there.
- Provided actionable ways that feel accessible and authentic to the reader.
- Refine their teaching stories so they are sharper and more emotive.
- Want to achieve the right balance between teaching stories and teaching moments.
FOR WRITERS OF FICTION, MEMOIR OR NARRATIVE NONFICTION
The Re-Vision Catalyst package proves especially helpful for writers of fiction, narrative memoir and narrative nonfiction who:
- Are stuck in the saggy middle of their book. You have a full draft, but you know the middle bogs down.
- Want to make sure the first 60 pages have unmistakable momentum. Now that you have a full first draft, how does the ending change the beginning?
- Wonder if they have too many characters or plot twists. Or not enough.
WHAT IS A DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT?
A developmental edit focuses on:
- Content development
- Narrative structure
- Voice
- Pacing
- Language
- Readability
A developmental edit looks at big picture issues, such as:
- Theme
- Boldness of the idea
- Originality
- Execution of the vision
- Where the book soars, where it sags – the experience the reader is having
A developmental edit shows you how to get there by providing you tools and resources, with specific, actionable next steps.
A developmental edit is not a line edit, which is the next step in the publishing process. A line edit focuses only on:
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Style (Chicago Manual of Style, Associated Press)
- Manuscript formatting
AN OPTIONAL ADD-ON is to bundle a developmental edit with a line edit. I offer it as three arounds of editing, with the final edit being a polish edit to make sure all issues have been resolved and your manuscript is publisher-ready.
THIS SERVICE IS RIGHT FOR YOU IF….
- You have revised your book, typed “The End,” and felt a jolt of excitement. Wow, is this really happening? Yes, this is really happening.
- You have revised your book, typed “The End,” and felt a jolt of fear. Are you ready?
- You have a full manuscript of 60,000 to 90,000 words.
- If your manuscript is over 90,000 words, we will adjust the price accordingly.
- If you cannot figure out how to get your manuscript down to under 100,000 words, I offer a custom service for that. You may want a re-evaluation of your vision. You may have a trilogy. Or a trilogy of trilogies, as a writer-friend told me about my novel. This is something you want to absolutely know, because…the next thing you want is…
- You want to get a fast and glorious yes from an agent or publisher.
- You don’t want to be in agent limbo, waiting to hear if she likes it.
- Nor do you want to go into a tailspin when you get a rejection letter, wondering why she said no.
- You can clearly articulate your goals for the manuscript to your developmental editor.
- You know what you want the book to be, and you want to know how to get there.
- You are writing transformational self-help nonfiction that empowers readers.
- You are writing narrative memoir, and you want a memoir that readers can’t put down.
- You are writing a memoir that teaches/leads/empowers readers, and you want to know how best to blend storytelling with actionable insights.
- You are writing fiction, and you want to strike a chord with readers. (And secretly, you covet a book-to-film deal.)
- You are writing narrative nonfiction (long-form journalism) and you want to know if your angle on your topic is presented in a way that is clear, compelling, concise – and culturally relevant. You feel certain your research is sound, but you want a second opinion. Or maybe you want to know if the storytelling works. Is your book edgy enough? Does it break new ground?
- You have a vision for the success of your book, and you imagine the return on investment, but you want help dialing that in.
- You want someone who knows more about the book business than you to shorten your timeline.
During our work together, I can guide you in ways to think about your time/money/energy/focus so it aligns. You’ll feel fulfilled, not discouraged. You’ll feel invigorated, not spent. You’ll feel empowered because you have clarity of purpose. You’ll have a plan that works for you.

“A tale of resilience and grace, Little Sister chronicles, in riveting prose, a surreal childhood and does so without rancor or self-pity.”

PATRICIA CHADWICK
Little Sister
Post Hill Press, 2019
In this memoir, Patricia Chadwick writes about growing up in a Catholic cult, where children were separated from their parents. She gives an interview on CBS to Dana Jacobson. (Patricia came to me through kn literary, and it was an honor to help her finish this book!)
A change at the cellular level. Part travel memoir and part spiritual guide, Cleanse Your Body and Reveal Your Soul is one woman’s transformative quest with Ayurvedic Panchakarma (a fivefold detoxification treatment involving massage, herbal therapy, and other procedures) and the profound shifts that led to some sustainable, substantial life changes. Dissatisfied with a mainstream psychiatric practice, Dr. Pentz heads to India, where she undergoes an ancient, rejuvenating cleanse.

In his memoir, David Sorensen explores his identity as a coda, or a child of Deaf adults. He describes his experiences with the roles often placed on codas at a young age, such as interpreter, confidant, and decision-maker. His story reveals a person seeking acceptance and belonging while straddling the Deaf and hearing worlds, and shows how he found reconciliation within himself and with both worlds.
As a British citizen of Nigerian ancestry, Ade Anifowose had lived an invisible life—until he found a home in Atlanta with his American wife. One day on a Greyhound bus near the border of two countries, at a border patrol checkpoint in Las Cruces, New Mexico, officers stopped his bus. “Are you an American citizen?” they asked. Down the row, he heard, “Sí, sí, sí.”
He could not answer yes. He had been living and working in the United States for over 25 years, but…it was complicated. The moment of truth had come. “You’re going to have to step off the bus,” the officer said.
In one moment, the trajectory of his life changed unalterably. My Invisible Life is a narrative memoir that kicks off with his deportation from the United States of America, after living most of his adult life with his wife and family, friends and a large network of community. When he first moved to Atlanta in 1993, he had been on a search for belonging and found that he could be more African in Atlanta than in England. Now, he had been told that I did not belong.
PUBLICATION NEWS COMING SOON!
Have you ever wanted a way to bend the ear of the Universe – that is, the loving energy behind all creation? Yes, that Universe, the one that renders absolute and perfect manifestation. Know that the Universe hears what is in your heart. It hears exactly what you want for your greatest life.
Can your life be so crazy that it ends up making you functional?
If crazy can be influenced by a life beginning in rodeo and functional can be influenced by a profession as a therapist, then the answer is easy: You decide.
What it is to be “crazy” and what it is to be “functional” are relative to the individual. Sometimes, it takes a lifetime to distinguish between the two. And sometimes, it takes a book filled with a lifetime’s worth of experiences. Even those considered crazy.
OCD? It’s in there. Anxiety? In there. Trauma? Take a number. Substance abuse? All depends on how you define “abuse.”
Yet despite the titillation from the full-frontal crazy, the heart of this story is in resilience. And if you think resilience can only come from positivity, enlightenment, or deep breaths… think again.
We’re suffering.
We suffer individually and collectively. We suffer from an epidemic of worry. An epidemic for which we’re desperately seeking solutions, the perfect medicine for what ails us.
And we’re so connected. Yet, more disconnected than ever. Disconnected from our essential nature. Disconnected from our place in it all.
In our striving, we suffer. And in our striving to find solace for our suffering, we suffer.
All of this, Patricia A. Muehsam, M.D., understands.
In The Do-Nothing Cure: A Physician’s Tales, Teachings and Tools for Finding Your Way Home to Health, Muehsam, an extraordinary physician, teacher and thought leader, presents the antidote to suffering. Drawn from her years of exploring the heart of health, The Do-Nothing Cure presents Muehsam’s path out of a modern world that is frenzied and disconnected and into a realm where suffering does not exist and health resides. Living at the Guest House is how we find our way home to Absolute Health.
